Haywood County earns high ranking for fundraising

Deputy Daniel Blagg recently attended an annual conference for the North Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, where he, representing the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office accepted an award for being a “Top Ten Agency” out of all the law enforcement agencies throughout the state who engage in fundraising activities for Special Olympics North Carolina.

Haywood County ranked #5 out of 105 agencies and stood out among several areas which have much larger populations. This truly speaks volumes about the level of generosity here in Haywood County.

Haywood County “Cops on Top” fundraising efforts largely affected this ranking, as the weekend-long event this summer pulled in more than $35,000.
